Vaccine Units

When eggs are produced for vaccine manufacturing the poultry unit needs to be designed to meet stringent health standards with flocks carefully monitored.  Whilst the layout will be similar with a full nesting system there will be no pop holes as the flock is to remain inside the unit.

These eggs come from specific-pathogen-free (SPF) flocks to ensure that no other microbes interfere with vaccine safety. The facilities involved operate under pharmaceutical-grade biosecurity and regulatory oversight, which is far more stringent than what is required for a typical commercial egg-laying barn.

Fertile eggs serve as a controlled environment in which influenza viruses can be safely replicated. The virus is injected into the egg under sterile conditions, allowed to grow for a set period, and then harvested. The viral material is then purified and processed to produce vaccine components.

Heating Systems

The right temperature is key for egg laying hens and we can provide options for heating.  Choose from conventional or biomass heating systems which will be installed to accurately control the unit and litter temperature.

Controllable Lighting

We work with leading suppliers to provide energy-efficient optimal lighting that can be closely controlled and adjusted throughout laying process.

Nesting Systems

Sourcing the right nesting system is key to ensure the flock have a natural and quiet environment with greater comfort inside the nest where they can lay their eggs. Manufactured from materials that are resistant to bacteria ensures a high standard of bio-security.

Conveyor Systems

Integrated conveyor systems can be installed to collect and convey eggs from the main unit that into the packing room with biosecurity kept to the highest standard.  Systems can also integrated to help with the removal of muck.
